Since the beginning of our School in 2010, Colegio Arenales Arroyomolinos has integrated native english Assistant Teachers to help with the growth of the Bilingual Immersion Program.
In the current 2018/19 school year we have four English Assistants from various places such as California, Northern and Southern Ireland and South Africa.
They all have prior experience working with children and are able to build close relationships with their students, teachers and even parents. In addition to their role as teachers, they also do postgrad studies at different Spanish Universities with a focus in teaching.
Our Assistants are used to work with small groups of children to help them develop their communication skills. They play a key role in supporting the Bilingual Program to ensure that the students get the maximum benefit from the learning activities that the teachers plan and carry out for them.
Miss Mary works closely with 1, 2 and 5 year olds and also with Year 1 and 2 Primary Students. She often sings songs or tells stories to develop their comprehension skills and she encourages them to take their first steps towards speaking English.
Miss Rosemary works with Year 2 to 4 Primary Students and motivates her students to engage in educational speaking games.
Mr. Perfect works with Year 4 to 6 Primary students. He helps them prepare for their upcoming Cambridge exams though speaking and oral activities.
Mr. Ruairí works with Year 1 to 3 Secondary Students . He typically has students develop their conversational skills by talking about a range of topics such as current events.
